Established in 2005 by its current Music Director, Peter Marks, the Eroica Camerata
brings together some of the finest musicians in the West Midlands region. Aiming
to set the highest standards in amateur music-making, the Eroica specialises in performing
masterpieces from the Classical repertoire as well as Romantic and Modern chamber
orchestral works. Their fresh approach to rehearsal and performance practice promises
audiences an exciting sound and satisfying concert experience.
More than just a chamber orchestra, members of the Eroica are encouraged to form
smaller chamber ensembles in order to be able to make fine music on a regular basis.
The players are drawn from a variety of backgrounds - whilst many players are music/performance
students or graduates, others are accomplished amateur musicians. The Eroica collaborates
with soloists both from within the orchestra and with freelance musicians wishing
to further their professional careers. The orchestra gives up to 3 concerts per year
in Birmingham as well as touring elsewhere.
