About Eroica

Established in 2005 by its current Music Director, Peter Marks, Eroica brings together amateur and professional musicians from across the West Midlands. Aiming to set the highest standards in amateur music-making, the orchestra specialises in performing masterpieces from the Classical repertoire as well as Romantic and Modern chamber orchestral works.

At their performance home in St Nicolas Church, Kings Norton, the Eroica musicians undertake just two rehearsals before each concert. The orchestra performs three concerts per season and works with soloists from both within the orchestra and freelance musicians wishing to further their exciting musical careers.

Reviews

“Saturday’s concert in the bright, comfortable acoustic of Kings Norton’s Parish Church was my first encounter with the Camerata, and it proved totally pleasurable...Marks has done a wonderful job in assembling this ensemble, motivating them to such willingness...well-nourished, articulate strings, wind solos full of personality...”

“The plucky Eroica Camerata is...now seven years into its existence, and the key to their success is the enthusiasm of the players matching that of their founder and music director Peter Marks”

Christopher Morley, Birmingham Post (February 2012)

"A passionate performance full of rich sonorities..."

"Warm, heart-stopping woodwind began the slow movement, evidence of much tender loving care and committed hard work."

"Cellos to the fore heralded the last movement with much evidence of all participants enjoying themselves. A treat for all concerned."

Maggie Cotton, Birmingham Post (June 2014)
