Introducing Eroica CONDUCT…
Are you looking to start conducting, develop your technique or are you just curious about the art of conducting? Eroica Conduct may be for you.
There is no single way to study conducting. Often it’s done through a combination of private study and practice and getting time in front of an orchestra, putting theory into practice with the help of a teacher or coach. Eroica Conduct offers all of these things.
Do you already conduct and want to develop your technique? Are you a music teacher conducting an ensemble? Perhaps you want to work on improving your posture and technique to reduce the chance of discomfort after days of rehearsal and concerts.
Eroica Music Director, Peter Marks, has over twenty years of conducting experience and has studied with conductors such as Michael Rose, Jason Lai, Michael Seal, Kenneth Woods and Ben Palmer. He has spent time in rehearsals with Sir Colin Davis and Sir Mark Elder, all in pursuit of developing his conducting and rehearsal technique. Peter founded Eroica in 2005 and has conducted and run the orchestra ever since. Peter practises and teaches baton technique based on the teachings of Sir Adrian Boult and Arthur Nikisch, which maximises the potential of communication through the baton rather than body movements.
Eroica Conduct offers a variety of learning experiences, including private tuition, coaching and conducting workshops with the orchestra. Why not contact Peter for a free initial consultation to discuss a personalised learning package. For example, Eroica Conduct can offer a package of private tuition and coaching, with Peter coming out to attend one of your rehearsals or you can attend one of ours. We are also planning an annual conducting workshop where participants will get opportunities both to conduct and play in the orchestra.
Aspects of private tuition could include: baton technique, beating patterns, the art of gesture, orchestral sound and balance, interpretation, score study.
